Integration with Joomla User Manager was created by intouchweb
I have noticed that if an admin updates a Membership Pro subscriber's email address in the backend the new address is automatically updated in the Joomla Users as well (which is good).
HOWEVER it appears that if an admin updates a Joomla User email address instead, the Membership Pro subscriber email address is NOT updated automatically...?
Can someone replicate and confirm this?
Is this a configuration issue or is it intended behaviour?
Ideally I would have thought it should work both ways.

Hi

Right now, it is expected behavior. We haven't had an option to synscronize change from Joomla core data to Membership Pro yet, something we can consider adding support for in the future

Tuan

Hi Tuan,
This lack of synchronization between Membership Pro and Joomla core user profile is causing us a lot of issues. We are getting reports (and also noticing) that members are updating their email address in their MP profile on the frontend BUT it is not updating their core user profile email address. This then causes another issue, ie their address in Acymailing is also out of date. I THINK that Acymailing will automatically update each users address as long as the core user profile is updated.
Is there any way this synchronisation issue can be resolved in the upcoming release please?
It would be a major improvement!
Most people (like me) would probably ASSUME that when a user updates their membership profile that everything else would be updated automatically as well.
PLEASE add email update synchronisation to the feature wish list in your next release.
Thanks Tuan

Hi

Actually, when user update his profile data in Membership Pro, the email will be updated to Joomla user account. I just unsure that the email will be updated to ACYMailing as it is not in the control of Membership Pro

So could you please try to test this scenario? If you update your user profile, and change the email, the email will need to be updated to your Joomla account

Hi Tuan,
Re- "..when user update his profile data in Membership Pro, the email will be updated to Joomla user "
This is NOT what I am seeing, I have just tested this again and this is what I am experiencing:
1. A user updates their email address in the front-end via the Membership Pro 'My Membership' profile page, then
2. The new address also updates correctly in the MP Subscriber Manager in the backend, however
3. The email address in the Joomla user profile is NOT updated, therefore
4. Acymailing is also not updated
(Note that Acymailing is synchronized with Joomla core, so if Membership Pro can synchronize with Joomla core all would work perfectly!)
If this is unexpected behaviour, then maybe my configuration needs checking?
I found an option to map fields to Joomla core fields but I assume that the email field would be automatically mapped.
I also have a secondary email custom field as well but it is not mapped to anything, so I do not think this would be causing an issue.
Let me know if you need me to log a support job on this.

What version of the extension you are using? Please note that if you update to use an email which is already exist in Joomla (the email is used by different user account), the email won't be updated

So maybe try a unique email for now, something like random@gmail.com to see whether it is updated?

At least it should work from what I see in the code of latest version of Membership Pro

Latest version 2.9.0
I tried it again with a random address and same result, updating email in frontend does not update the Joomla email address for the user.

That's strange. In this case, please submit a support ticket sending us:

1. Super admin account

2. A subscriber account

3. Link to the page

We will try to update profile data with new email, check to see why the email is not saved and get it corrected

Tuan

For the benefit of other readers, the issue was related to the security config settings in Admin Tools, it was set to disallow frontend changes to anyone in the Administrator group. Thank you Tuan for your help!
However...My original post is still an issue.
Ideally we should be able to update an email address in the Joomla user profile section in the backend and have this auto synchronize the email address in Membership Pro for the same user.
If possible please consider that improvement in the next release.
Thanks again for your great service!

OK Mark. I will consider adding support for this (as a config option) in the next release 2.10.0 of Membership Pro

Tuan
