The comment is correct. With awo you still need username to enter the verification code and you still need a username to register. It just gives you an alternative for logging in.

Ahh,

You are correct.

Perhaps I will have to buy that other extension then!

That looks perfect! If you use it, could you post back here saying if it works OK?

Thanks.

I have found another link which seems OK.

www.richeyweb.com/development/joomla-plu...authentication-email

I have downloaded and am reviewing the code prior to install.

Works a treat:
- normal login
- password reset
- and as a bonus, option to use for admin login as well

two plugins to enable
Need to do the language overrides so user knows they can use user id or email address, you could lie and say enter the email address only.
I didnt override on admin login

Great!

Sounds like a bad idea anyway! Less secure than a long random username.

Well, just checked the new features in V2.2.1:

5. Added a config option to allow using email as username. If you activate this option, when people sign up, they won't have to enter username to register for an account anymore. Instead, Membership Pro will use their email as username. If you use this feature, please remember to publish the plugin OS Membership Registration Redirect so that existing users/subscribers can use their email to login, too.

Thanks Tuan and your team!

Sorry, I forgot that one. As you say it works well but I wanted to allow users to have choice of username or email address. They are all used to using a user id = their membership number on the current site.

PS That feature was 2.2.0 not 2.2.1 :)
