Cancelling recurring payments

You will need Membership Pro version 1.7.1 to have this feature works well:

1. Old subscribers could not cancel recurring subscription. Only subscribers signed up from now on will be able to cancel

2. To cancel a recurring subscription, you will need to create a menu item to link to user profile view of Membership Pro. Subscribers can access to that menu item, look at My Subscriptions tab, If there is a recurring subscription, there will be a button to allow him to click on to cancel

I just downloaded the component today, so I have the latest version.

I enabled a menu item with the user profile.

Under "My subscriptions" it shows the subscription I have paid for, which my email confirmation from Paypal shows i recurring. But it does not show the option to cancel.

You are using Paypal standard ? If so, it is not possible to cancel recurring subscription from within the website because Paypal standard doesn't have an API to allow us to do that. To cancel a recurring subscription with Paypal standard, users will have to login to his Paypal account to find the recurring subscription and cancel it from there

What kind of Paypal account is required?

With PayPal standard you just log in to your PayPal account and go to the area where your recurring payments are. From there you can temporarily suspend a recurring debit or cancel it completely.

Right, but the new feature allows customers to cancel the account from within our website. I need to know how to allow that.

Sorry. I thought he said it would only work on PayPal Pro, not the standard version.

So to be more clear:

1. With Paypal payment standard, users could not cancel the recurring subscription from within the website. It is not because the limitation of Membership Pro, it is because Paypal payment standard doesn't have any API allows us to do that

2. With Payapl Pro, it is possible. However:

- Paypal Pro is only available in US, UK and Canada. It is not avaialble in other countries

- Paypal charges you monthly fee if you want to use Paypal Pro

3. Right now, the following payment plugins offer cancel recurring subscription from within your site:
- Authorize.net

- Paypal Pro

- Stripe

I know that other payment gateways support recurring payment, too. However, in Membership Pro, we only have the above listed payment plugins support recurring subscription

Right now, I still want to focus working on other improvements to the extension first. Later, I will try to add recurring payment support for other payment gateways
