edocman and multiple files was created by Suzette
Hello there,
I have tried several free (and paid) components for downloading documents, and I still haven't yet found the perfect fit.
My MAIN need is this: I have an educational website to teach children how to read, and we have about sixty FREE books. Each book has two different versions (one is printer-friendly and the other is designed to be read on-screen)... and each book has two or three activity sheets that parents/teachers download and print out.
So.... each book has 4 - 6 files associated with it.
I would LOVE to create ONE document for each book, with the necessary files listed out for it.
And hopefully, then be able to display all the books in a given category (e.g. all the alphabet books in one category; all the beginner phonics books in another category; all the intermediate phonics books in another category; etc. etc.), with all the files listed for each book.
For example, on ONE page....
Category: Alphabet Books
Book One image and description
fileA
file B
file C
Book Two image and description
file D
file E
file F
Book Three image and description
file G
file H
file I
and so on

I am asking this question because (a) in the eDocman product description, it said that only ONE file can be associated with a document, and I am hoping that this is not true! (b) I have bought too many component that I couldn't refund. Eeeek! I can't keep buying components just to find out they don't do what I need.
Thanks very much for reading my question.

Hi
Unfortunately, it is not possible to do that within EDocman. Right now, the only way to associated multiple files within one document is zipping them into a zip file and upload that zip file for the document .
It seems right now, one of existing download extension have the feature you are asking for .
Regards,
Tuan

Oh, well... thanks very much for clearing this up for me.
I wish I could do the zip thing, but my Mac users have problems with the zip files I create on a Windows machine.... meaning I'd still have to have two zip files!!! :woohoo:
Have a great day,
Suzette
