I would love to just go straight to J4. One of my main extensions isn't J4 compatible yet. tbh I am not sure it wouldn't work, but this quiz extension and your membership extensions are the core usage of my site.
I think I understand what you are suggesting now. restore a backup of the current site in a sandbox, upgrade to J3/4 and export the users and import that into the subfolder J3/4 site and leave the current site live without risk.
I do need to consider the J4 option though and perhaps look at other extensions....will mean a lot of work as I wouldn't be able use the same quiz extension. I assume if I decide to go J4 you can still run the update etc?
Thanks, Benny

Hello Benny
Yes. If you update to Joomla 4, we can still use same workflow. Just need more step:
1. Update to Joomla 3
2. Upgrade to Joomla 4
You should contact the developer of the extension and ask him to see if he has plan to migrate his extension to Joomla 4. If he does not, then it's time to find an alternative and start with Joomla 4 right now
No point to build a new site now, and then 2 or 3 years later, update again to Joomla 4. It will be a waste of time and money

Agreed, I already asked and they will upgrade to J4 at some point, but not yet. So you are right, I will look for an alternative quiz extension and I will take you up on upgrading soon. I will also need to get a J4 template now. You are right on all counts
