Free trial period: payment in advance? was created by Michail Fragkiadakis
Greetings and happy new year.
I would like to setup monthly subscriptions (1 month, 2 months or 3 months) with recurring payment and include an extra free month.
I have tried to implement it by using one subscription plan and custom fee fields (in order to use the "Modify Subscription Duration" field) but as I just read in another topic this is not possible with recurring payment*.
So, I followed the advice of that topic and tried to implement it by using 3 different subscription plans, one for each period (1 month, 2 months or 3 months). But in this case payment also seems to be made after the first free month, whereas I would like to be made immediately. In other words, I would like the "free month" to be after the subscription period ends. Is that possible somehow?
*Actually, it would be great if this was possible. Maybe think of it as a feature request?

Hello
For that recurring subscription plan, when will the subscription period ends? Do you have a fixed number of payments for each of these plans?

Hello Tuan,
No, it's up to the user to decide when the subscription ends.

Hmm
For a recurring subscription, I don't know how users can decide when he wants the subscription ends. Not sure how you could setup to make system works like that?

Considering that the point of recurring subscription is to automatically renew a user's subscription over a specific period that is defined by the subscription plan (in my case 1 month, 2 months or 3 months), I guess a user would decide to end a subscription by cancelling the automatic payment. Isn't that how it works?

Yes. That's how it works. And in that case, you want to give them extra 1 month subscription when they cancel their recurring subscription
If so, that's not supported and you would need to perform some customization to the extension to have it works
Regards,
Tuan
