Our site uses the group membership facility. We have hit a problem. When a member lapses his membership (and the status changes to "Expired") the status of his group members does not change. They are still shown as "Active". However, the system will not allow them to logon. We have had a situation where the admin member has lapsed his membership and one of his group members has wanted to pay the subscription and become the admin member. She cannot logon and she cannot register (as the system alreay has her email address as a group member). It appears that the only way I can solve this is to go into the database and delete her group_admin_id so that she would no longer be a group member, but an expired member. She can then pay her subscription. However, I am always reluctant to mess with the database. It would help me if you could explain the logic behind the status of the member - clearly, this is not kept as a record on the database file and must be determined by the system when necessary. Could you please explain the logic behind this or better still, let me know where I can find the code?
Also please could the system change the status of group members to that of the admin member whenever the status of the admin member is changed? Or have I missed something in the setup? (please see my post
