Canceled recurring cannot sign up again was created by Helen Nunley
Hi,
I am testing and I have a member that I used the cancel subscription option. The member expires and can still sign in as a Registered Joomla user. This works as intended. But if the user wants to restart the membership, the page wouldn't allow access. So I changed the access of Public to include Public and Registered Groups. The membership page then loads but the Sign Up button doesn't display.
I've done something wrong in the set-up I fear.

Hello Helen
What version of Membership Pro you are using? Are you using latest version 2.9.0? If someone cancelled his recurring subscription and expired, he should be able to subscribe for the plan again
Maybe you set Enable Renewal setting of the plan to No and that's why renewal is disabled?

I am using 2.9.0. I did have Enable Renew off trying to troubleshoot another problem. It is now enabled and I see the renew button fine. Thanks.
With Enable Renew on, I was experiencing system renewals about every 5-6 hours, untouched by human hands. I will wait and see if this happens again. I'll let you know if I have any more problems.

If it is a recurring subscription plan, then Yes, renewal will be automatically without requiring any human actions

I didn't make myself clear at all.
My subscriptions for testing are 2 day memberships. With the Renew enabled, the subscriptions renew ahead of time, so I will have one that runs for 06-07 to 06-09 and then it will renew one to 4 hours later running 06-10 to 06-12, both active, both the same test client. This has happened numerous times with more than one test client.
I have checked the raw access logs in my cpanel to see if anything is triggering this and I can only see the Stripe POST. It appears to reach out several times every hour. When I check Strip account, It show more charges still that are not reflected in Joomla backend, 2 to the same test client and are 3 seconds apart.
When I go back to Stripe and view customers, it appears to have treated some of the same customers as different customers. I have the same email but with different Stripe appointed customer numbers. This might be the problem. This might be because I was testing the profile editing feature. But I did not change the email addresses, just last names, that I recall...
However, one test client that had no profile changes was renewed prior to expiration and had 2 active memberships simultaneously. I deleted the second membership from the OS Membership backend, not from Stripe. The original membership did not renew when it expired but the deleted membership renewed instead, leaving a 4.5 hour gap in active membership in the backend.
I have a new test client that will expire today. I will watch this one and see what happens.
If I need to change a setting, please let me know.

At some point, I had also tested the Renew button if a member found their way back to the Join page, because it shows there as well. The member can renew from this and it creates extended memberships. Maybe I need to figure out a way to block this page as well. Or a way to prevent a member from signing up for a membership they already have active.

I think part, and only part, of this problem stems from once the system made the renewals within hours of a renewal, those renewals were deleted from Joomla but not from Stripe, as discussed here

. How does it work when the members cancels their own subscription - would you still need to log into Stripe and manually cancel it as well??
So I would feel good about deleting all members from both Joomla and Stripe and thinking it would be fine if it had not happen to that one test account that had no profile changes.
