Hello,

I noticed that editing the user profile via joomla edit-profile page does NOT update the membership user profile (only the membership edit-profile updates joomla profile too).

I have the following setup and i wanted to ask if you can forecast any problems with it:
- Users can create free account even before/without any purchase
- Users only have access to joomla edit-profile page, NOT the membership pro edit-profile
- Users can purchase subscription via membership pro, either while being logged in or by registering via membership pro form during purchase.

Knowing that the info update seems to only happen one way, what happens if they go and update their profile via joomla edit-profile page AFTER they have purchased something? I.e. when they come back to make another purchase, can they use both the membership pro login AND the membership registration form with the NEW details without a problem? Will membership pro be up to date regarding the changes in user details? I ask because the profile shown in membership pro does NOT update if the user changes their details via joomla.

For example consider these questions: Will any recurring subscriptions break, or not be attributed to the user? Can the user make a new purchase by logging in with the new details? What if the user does NOT log in, and fill the registration form with the NEW details (previously updated via joomla), which membership pro does not show as updated in the membership profile?

Apologies for the many questions, i just needed to make sure what i am asking is clear enough for everyone to understand!

I would appreciate any details you can explain.
Thank you very much for the clarifications and the support.

Kind regards,
George

Hi George

At the moment, when users update their profile in Joomla core user profile, the changes won't be added to membership pro

I will find a way to add support for this data synchronization, however, I am afraid of we can only have it available in the extension in about 4 weeks. Hope that won't be too late for you

Regards,

Tuan

@ Mark: I have tested it with the name of the client, but i assume it applies to the whole profile. This applies to changes via joomla profile after the initial creation of the account. Then you would have two different versions of the profile (one updated in joomla and one non-updated in membership pro which at the moment is not aware of any updates done via joomla profile).

@ Tuan: Thank you for the reply and for adding this to your list of fixes. Please have in mind that this is a very important fix. Although I can wait 4 weeks if we stick to this timeframe without additional delays, it would be much better for everyone if you can add this to your priority list to be fixed sooner since it has the potential to cause some serious issues.

Thank you for your understanding and support,
George

@George : I don't think it is a fix. It is more an improvement than a fix. The extension is designed from the beginning that update Membership Pro profile data will update Joomla core profile and not vice versa. It has been working like that from beginning and it was our intension

If memory sever me correctly, there are not many customers need it from the beginning - Membership Pro has been there for few years.

Anyway, it is a nice to have feature, so Yes, I will work on it to improve it. However, it doesn't have high priority for now. My highest priority now is updating documentation - is is quite outdated with the current features of latest version (2.1.0 at this time)

You will have this feature in 4 weeks as I promised

Sorry to drag up this old thread, but I seem to have this same problem, and cannot find a way to use the mentioned implemented feature to sync the other way. Updating the Joomla user profile does not update the Subscriber profile.

I have also tried installing EASYProfile, but this does not sync either, even though Memebership has a plugin and i setup field mapping. It seems that Subscriber profile will update the other profiles, but if you edit the profiles using more advanced tools (such as Easyprofile) it will not sync back to the Subscriber. Do I have something configured incorrectly??

As of right now, the change is one way only. However, I think I can add support for Joomla core user profile (update Joomla core user profile will update data in Membership Pro, too).

I will update you when it's implemented, should be available in few weeks

The Easyprofile/Membership Pro plugins integrate nicely with Membership pro. The only exception is when a users goes to renew a subscriptions, say in a year from now, and who may have moved in that year and updated the EasyProfile or Joomla profile, the Subscriber profile is still outdated. So, I would think it would only need to sync when a person actually went to renew their subscription on the payment screen. As EasyProfile integrates with Joomla user profile, I would think syncing from Joomla would show correctly in EasyProfile.

Is there an update on this feature to sync Joomla Profile changes with MP profile info? OR is there a way where when users go to renew their membership, it pulls the field data from Joomla profile rather than MP?

Hi

Currently, we don't support that option. However, we can modify code to have the system always get data from user profile to fill-in the form

You can get this file, unzip it, upload to components/com_osmembership/view/override/register folder on your site (these folders must be created manually if it doesn't exist before yet)

Then check the result, it should work as expected. If you look at the folder, it's in override, so it won't be lost when you update to future releases of the extension

Regards,

Tuan
