New subscription marked "pending", but why? was created by Mark
I have a new subscriber. In fact she has subscribed twice, within 2 1/2 minutes. Both records seem valid. I have one validated and completed PayPal payment, for the second subscription.
But both memberships are marked as "Pending". Why might that be, and how do I find out what's going on?
<A bit later>It turns out that the user doesn't exist in the system, although a name has been entered.
If she simply didn't create a user but just wrote a name in, would that do it?

Hi Mark
If she made payment, the subscription records should be active. Maybe it is pending because Paypal IPN messages could not reach your stie at that time for some reasons.
It just happens for this subscriber or it happens with every subscribers ?

Hi
You can see the IPN message by loggin in to your Paypal account, access to History -> IPN History and you will see the IPN messages
Sometime (rarely happens), that IPN message for the payment could not reach the site for some reasons and it causes the pending issue
I think we can wait until the next payment to see how it goes

I meant, was the IPN stored anywhere by OSMembership, which would show whether or not it had been received.
I've checked with PayPal, there's an IPN, it says it was sent. I've sent it again (is that any use whatsoever?)
Yes, perhaps it wasn't able to be received for some reason. There have been some hosting changes yesterday. They shouldn't affect this, but hey, this is computers.
I'll wait for the next one and let you know.

Yes, that membership is now marked as active.
I haven't (yet) got a cron job running, so something in the admin i/f must have triggered it.
That's great.

There is no cron job needed. The extension just need to receive IPN messages from Paypal. Maybe it didn't receive before for some reasons, and when you resend it, the system now receive and active the membership

I have the same problem but more often on recurring payments than on sign up. Some of my users pay the monthly fee but their account becomes expired.
The IPN history does not seem to be accessible from the new PayPal design. You have to either switch back to the old design, og use the following url after login:
www.paypal.com/us/cgi-bin/webscr?cmd=_display-ipns-history
I have not turned on the IPN messages. What is the correct Notification URL for Membership Pro?

Hi
You can simply enter URL of your site. Infact, Membership Pro just needs PayPal IPN enabled. The IPN url you registered with Paypal won't affect membership pro as membership pro register it own URL with Paypal (when someone sign up for membership)
Regards,
Tuan
