Suggestion: Much needed Improvement was created by Walter
I love membership pro and I plan to continue using it on my websites. However, I think there's some improvements needed, and I hope you don't mind my suggestions.
First, I would suggest using another method for content / k2 content restrictions. What's needed, in my opinion, is for content restrictions to be based on global settings and core Joomla triggers; without core hacks to membership pro.
For my system, I allow registered users to access the site, but only the intro text for articles / k2 items. Members with "editor" or "publisher" access in the Joomla ACL, can read the full text to the articles.
Rather than requiring the current {membership pro code here} to be inserted, membership pro should separate, at the very least, by intro text and full text. In other words, in the content restrictions plugins (joomla content, k2 content restrictions), I would love to be able to select a global option in each of the content restriction plugins that: 1) reads the subscription plans data for each of the subscription plans, and then select "allow intro text only" or "allow intro text and full text" for each of the Joomla ACL groups which would allow us webmasters to set it to either categories or articles globally, rather than having to insert code in each article.
Here's an example.
I have three subscription plans. Free member (which only gets access to article / k2 item intro text), Monthly Subscriber (which gets access to both intro text and full text), and Annual Subscriber (which also gets access to intro text and full text).
So, along with the "individual options" that already exist for the various restrictions, these suggested added features should make Membership Pro much more viable for numerous companies.
The reason I suggest this is because currently, the content restrictions plugins require individual code to be placed within each of the articles, which many webmasters who use feed aggregators for their content would not want to get involved with. However, if the options I suggest were available, then any sensible webmaster would choose Membership Pro over the others.
