There is no way to send automatic email. You will have to click on the record, change it to Pending, save it. Then change it from Pending -> Active again to get the email sent

Since there will be very few that use this option on my site (maybe 2 or 3 per year), I changed a message on translation to contact me if they decide they would rather pay by card instead of their previous choice to pay by mail.

But I like your idea as well. I'm going to test it and see if that works for me. Thanks for the idea. I'll let you know how it works for me!
