withdrawal button was created by p.barg
Hello,
From June 19, 2026, there will be a new obligation in the EU: the withdrawal button for online shops.
Are there any plans to provide a solution for this in upcoming versions of Events Booking?
Kind regards,
Petra

Hi Tuan,
no, I don't think it's the same as the cancel button, but as always no one is really sure about the functionality....
Maybe this info is helpful:

Honestly, I do not understand the law. Since you understand it and is familiar with Events Booking, could you please describe exactly what needs to be implemented to be compatible with the law/rule ?

Brief Overview:
An EU-wide regulation requiring online store operators to provide their customers with the option to withdraw from the contract entered into at the time of purchase within a 14-day withdrawal period.
A button or link must be clearly visible on the website, leading to a form with content similar to the following:
Withdrawal Form
If you wish to withdraw from the contract, please fill out this form.
I hereby withdraw from the contract I entered into for the purchase of the following goods or the provision of the following service.
(Example fields:)
-Ordered on
-Consumer’s name
-Consumer’s address
-Invoice number
A copy should be sent to the customer after submission.
The example above is based on the configuration in Events Booking where no users are created—hence, only a single form to be filled out. If the operator has already incurred costs within the 14-day period, these must be calculated manually and the remaining amount refunded; if no costs were incurred by the operator during the 14-day period, the full amount will be refunded.
If Events Booking uses user accounts and logins, the calculation process could also be automated: if the operator has not yet incurred any costs, the total amount is refunded; if costs have been incurred, there could be a field for the amount withheld, which could also be specified as a percentage.
This is actually a simple matter; the key is to include the following two statements in the registration form, which can easily be done using the customizable fields:
- I hereby expressly agree that performance of the contract will begin before the expiration of the otherwise applicable cancellation period (withdrawal period).
- I confirm that I acknowledge that I lose my right of withdrawal (right to cancel) if performance of the contract begins prematurely (before the expiration of the otherwise applicable withdrawal period/cancellation period) once the contractor has fully performed the contract.”

Hmm
In this case, wouldn't it be better if you use a form extension to collect withdrawal requests and the process it further when the request is received? I meant if there is different extensions on the form need to have this withdrawal , there should be a place to allow you to manage these requests ?

Hi Tuan,
I'm not sure if I understand you correctly—what do you mean by a form extension to manage withdrawal requests? A third-party form extension or one within Events Booking?
This point might be important because a third-party extension isn't connected to Events Booking.
And what do you mean by different extensions for the form?
The payment request form needs to be adapted to the online store and its products—in our case, the German language exams we offer.
I don’t know how many withdrawal requests we’ll receive in the future, but of course, having a way to manage these requests would be helpful!
The question for our institute is whether any portion of the amount we’ve already received will actually be refunded.
Starting from the “purchase” of the German exams via Events Booking, we also have to factor in administrative expenses—for example, since we only provide the venue but the German examiners come from another organization, we have to provide that organization with the number and names of the examinees, set up workstations (i.e., infrastructure) for the German exam, and so on. - These costs may be deducted from the exam fee we have already received.
Regards - Marco
