Ah, that plugin only works for Joomla 4+. For Joomla 3, you can use the built-in invisible recaptcha plugin

Yes, I know, but this solution (invisible Google recaptcha) is unreliable. Unfortunately, it doesn't work seriously.

Yes. These captcha solution is not 100% reliable for spam bots these days. That's why Joomla removed these captcha solution from Joomla 5
But we still have to rely on it, at least it should help reducing spams. If it is still not protected well, you might have to disable invite friend feature for the time being
