Stop overbooking was created by Rusty
We have noticed that if we have limited places available for an event (let's say 100), and a site visitor adds the event to their shopping cart, but doesn't check out, 100 bookings then come in and the person then checks out, then the event is oversold by 1.
Is there any way to not allow customers to hold events in their shopping cart to prevent overbooking of activities ?

Sorry Russell. This is a difficult issue and as of right now, over booking still happens for website with high traffic (two persons perform registration almost at the same time for one remaining slot)
I must be honest that I don't have solution for this problem yet (but I will try to find a solution in the future)

Ok thanks.
When an event is added to the basket, I've noticed that it doesn't add this as a cookie but adds it as a session.
We've set the session to expire after 10 minutes, so hopefully this will stop this issue from happening for now. But would be good to look into this as a possibility for a future version.

Is there a capacity check when a user clicks to complete the booking? I understand that it's difficult to allow for 2 people who click to complete at around the same time, due to the time required to process payment, etc. It seems to be like Russell is describing a different problem, whereby the current registration count is only checked when the space is put in the cart.Tuan Pham Ngoc wrote: I must be honest that I don't have solution for this problem yet (but I will try to find a solution in the future)

Yes, that's exactly what I'm looking for Donal
We need to stop overbooking, and a capacity check would work perfectly.

Thank you, this does seem to be the same issue.
The last post on that was 2 years ago so doesn't look like there's been much progress made on the issue

We have the same problem. The problem is also exacerbated by payments system such as PayPal which can take an age to process the payment or by users taking time to tick return to merchant before returning to the Events Booking Application. While the payment processing is happening, the other people can still register as the capacity is not updated until the user returns to the application from the payment process.

I'm experiencing this over-booking issue. Did any of you get an answer to it?
