Paypal IPN doesn't work.

Hi guys,

I've been trying to set up Paypal for Event Booking for several hours and I'm certain there is an issue with the plugin. I've set up Paypal countless times in the past for many different components but yours isn't working.

The user is returned to our site after making payment and sees a confirmation screen. In the administrator the registrant is still pending and has to be confirmed manually.

At Paypal the IPN history shows in over a dozen tests that the IPN was sent to our site and received with a response code of 200. The data shows a completed payment and the correct amounts.

I've tested using the Paypal Sandbox and live but the result is always the same.

Looks like another user also had the same issue here.

The setting to "Log IPN Messages" doesn't seem to work either. Nothing gets logged at components/com_eventbooking

Can you please help with this?

Hi John

There are few things you should check:

1. Make sure your site is on a server, not on a local computer

2. Make sure your site is on an online mode, not offline

3. Go to Events Booking -> Payment Plugins, click on os_paypal payment plugin to edit, make sure Access is set to Public instead of Registered

From what you described, it seems IPN messages from PayPal could not reach Events Booking for some reasons and it causes the issue. Try to check all the items above to and make sure it is correct?

Thanks for the really quick response.

Initially, we set up Paypal and tested on a localhost and expected IPN not to work. The issue was number 3. We created a specific user group so we could test on the live site before letting customers access it. I didn't think the IPN handler would also be restricted by this.
