Cannot use coupons

We have used coupons in the past. Now, when we try to assign a coupon to an event, we receive
Error
Table 'tahoerim_tahoerimtrail_live.jml_eb_coupon_events' doesn't exist SQL=DELETE FROM jml_eb_coupon_events WHERE coupon_id = 17
After checking, I do not find a jml-eb_coupon_events relation. I have checked over a year of past backups and never find it.

We are running a rather old 1.7.0 Joomla recommends upgrade to 1.7.4 When I check downloads, I only found 2.2.0 in available downloads. We tried to install that but had major problems and failures in events- we backed it out.

What should we do. We have an immediate need for a coupon.

Further information on our attempted upgrade to 2.2.0 (repeat of message from 1/6/16)

I got a notice from Joomla (3.4.7) that 1.7.4 upgrade was available and should be installed. I downloaded the file (which I noticed said 2.2.0) and installed. Everything is failing We get a screen starting with

Error: 1054 - Unknown column 'tbl.late_fee_date' in 'field list' SQL=SELECT tbl.*,DATEDIFF(tbl.early_bird_discount_date, '2016-01-06 09:43:24') AS date_diff,DATEDIFF('2016-01-06 09:43:24', tbl.late_fee_date) AS late_fee_date_diff,DATEDIFF(tbl.event_date, '2016-01-06 09:43:24') AS number_event_dates,TIMESTAMPDIFF(MINUTE, tbl.registration_start_date, etc.etc.

I have successfully gone back to 1.7.0.

Questions:
1. Is there some preparation for version 2 that I missed?
2. Can I install 2.2.0? If so, what have I done wrong?
3. Should I expect any problem form returning to 1.7.0?

What Joomla version you are using? If you are using Joomla 3, latest version of Events Booking should be 2.3.1, not 2.2.0

From the error message above, I think the update was not success for some reasons. Please access to Events Booking -> Categories (for example), then Tools -> Fix Database Schema and the issue should be sorted

If the issue still there, you can submit a support ticket sending us super admin account of your site so that we can check and solve it for you

Please don't rollback to version 1.7.0, stay with latest version, we will help you to correct the issues to get it works

We have a remaining issue but good news. The 2.3.1 load worked perfectly and solved the coupon_events problem. BUT

I get many complaints from my client that if coupons are enabled for any event, the coupon field shows up on all events. This does not make sense if there is no coupon for the event. Much worse, they get many phone calls wanting to know how to get the coupon for the event. This costs much staff time and effort.

Is there a solution. If not, can you suggest any hack to accomplish this?

Did you ever get to showing coupons only on events that want them?

Yes. It was implemented sometime ago. You can update to latest version (2.4.2) and it should work as expected

I installed 2.4.2. Coupons are enabled. We have a few assigned to specific events and others assigned to none (jml_eb_coupons.event_id = -1). A coupon field still shows up on any event with a fee. Event 1412 is an example. Actually, at the moment, all of our coupons are either expired, assigned to no event or disabled.

Am I doing something wrong?
