Conditional custom fields was created by Philippe De Ridder
Hello
I need to display (custom) fields conditionally, based on the value of a previous field (custom or not), on the event registration.
Is it possible ? How ?

Thanks beforehand,
Philippe

Hello,
I was wondering why no response was coming, but I see my last post (a couple of weeks ago!) has not been recorded :(
Anyway, I don't see the options for conditional attributes. Now that I am with Joomla 1.5.26, could it be due to that version (using the 1.5 version of the event bookings package) ?
Thanks !
Philippe

Hi Philippe

Yes. That's the reason. The conditional custom fields feature is only available for Joomla 2.5 and 3.x. It is not avaialble for Joomla 1.5

Joomla 1.5 is very old and you should upgrade to Joomla 3.x now (3.3.6 is the latest version, 3.4 should be released within this month).

Tuan

Do you have any plans to add this to Joomdonation? I'd really love to be able to ask a few questions. One example was one I was asked to do today:

Let the user check a box that says "Give this gift in memory of someone" and if they check the box, a field for that person's name appears.

Hi Brian

I will try to add support for it. However, to be honest, it won't get high priority. Maybe I will work on it at the end of this month when you are all on new year holiday (our new year holiday is different from yours, it is about one month later, so I will have some free time at that time to work on something :) )

Do you think you'll actually be able to get this done? My client is really pushing to have some conditional fields.

They want to be able to do something like this:

□ In honor of…
This gift is in honor of… {conditional field}
First Name [ ] Last Name [ ]

Who will receive notification? {conditional field}
Please include the mailing address of the person you are honoring with this gift. We will notify them that you have made this generous gift in their honor.
First Name [ ] Last Name [ ]
Address [ ] City [ ] State [ ] Zip [ ] blah blah {conditional field}

□ In memory of…
This gift is in memory of… {conditional field}
First Name [ ] Last Name [ ]

Who will receive notification? {conditional field}
Please include the mailing address of the person you would like us to notify of this tribute. We will let them know you have made a gift in memory of this special person.
First Name [ ] Last Name [ ]
Address [ ] City [ ] State [ ] Zip [ ] blah blah {conditional field}

So you can see, without the conditionals, the form can get very long and confusing. All those address blocks would be visible. WITH conditionals, all we have to ask is if they want to give in honor of or in memory of, and THEN the extra fields appear.

We don't mind paying something to you to expedite this feature.

thanks!

Hi Brian

Adding support for this feature will take much time, unfortunately (it will require few days of working, even one week, so I am afraid of you could not pay for this development).

To be honest, It will cost you atleast 200$, It is not worth for you to pay for a feature like that for a donation extension.

Actually $200 isn't a bad price to add this, as long as for THIS one, you roll it back into the public release (I know others would benefit).

I'd have to get approval, but we REALLY want this feature in Joomdonation.

Update:

So as a temporary fix for this, I ended up using NoNumber's sliders in "header" fields around the fields so that the fields are hidden by a slider until clicked on. This will do for now, but I still would love for you to add this to your "to do" list for Joomdonation. I think it will make it a better product. :)

thanks!
