Auto reminder issue

Thanks for the solution... Sorted out using the following for the cronjob (specific to ISP so they have to do it / advise on it)

/usr/bin/wget -O - http://www.domainname.co.za?secret_code=domainname

the fix was the part before the URL

Thanks for sharing. I will find an easier solution for setting up cron job. Will update later, still too busy with something now

As many hostings limit the cron job usage, and some other newbies may have problems on setting up cron job due to lack of crontab knowledge. An easy-to-use webcron service EayCron.com is a quick alternative solution for them. P. S. EasyCron offers a free forever plan.
Would you consider adding easycron.com to your products?

@Penn: Thanks for your suggestions. I will consider adding support for it, however, it won't be in near future. Maybe sometime next year, right now, I have other important features which I want to add into my extensions first.

How does the auto remind function determine when it sends the reminder emails? Is it somehow connected to Jooma-installations Server Time Zone setting? I created a event on 2015-05-29 which was scheduled to start at 2015-06-01 09:00 AM and the Remind registrant before field was set to 1 days. Then I registered to the event with a test user on the same day as the event was created (2015-05-29). The remainder email was sent to the registrant on the day of the event, not the day before as it was supposed. How can this be possible? Could it be caused by Joomla installations Server Time Zone setting or something else? I live in Finland and the Joomla Server Time Zone setting is set to Helsinki.
