Search "Keyword" Functionality in EBB was created by LAC Webadmin
Hi Tuan,
Please consider adding a capability of searching for keyword using the Keywords metadata field when editing/creating an event or a field for Search Keyword if you want but I guess the metadata keywords field would suffice. Also, I enabled the finder plugin for EBB, it seems to be ignoring the metadata keyword fields.
With "keyword" I mean a specific search keyword, for example: I have a lot events with different title but it has a word "Party" in it, if following EBB default searching which I think is searching in the title and in the description, the end users will have to look through the results. Whereas if there is a specified search keyword for each event then the result will be minimized or will only show that particular event. In JEvents, this can be done via custom fields where in the custom field option, you can set it to include the field value in search.
I enabled the search toolbar in Upcoming layout and I added keywords in the Metadata Keywords field but the search toolbar doesn't return a hit, so as the finder plugin doesn't return a hit result. So, what's the use of the metadata keywords field?
Thanks,
Jackson

It is not used for searching. It is metadata for HTML document
www.w3schools.com/tags/tag_meta.asp
. According to documentation, meta keywords Define keywords for search engines
So this is actually, not used for searching feature in EB, but uses for search engines like Google Search. This is the same with how Meta keywords are using in Joomla

Tuan

With finder in Joomla, it does search the keywords metadata field. You can try it with Article. I've been using it in our website.
Tuan, I am asking this as a feature request and I said please consider. If EBB is not using the Keywords Metadata field, then if you add it in the future, what would get affected? I think it would make your product better, right? I am requesting for an improvement to your product. I don't care about the documentation for what metadata is or if Google is using it. I care about the Joomla Finder searching for an event. Say you add the keywords metadata field to finder, does it affect Google Search? Does it mess up the purpose of metadata? I don't think so but does it make EBB better with Joomla finder? Yes? No? I think Yes!
Thanks,
Jackson

Actually, I just tried to explain what's the field used for. Honestly, I don't have much knowledge with how smart search works yet, will have to look at it more carefully. And Yes, if Joomla core uses it, then EB should be adapted, too, and I will be happy to work on the change.
I will try to spend sometime to look more at smart search ASAP
