"Location" for Virtual Meeting was created by Annamarie Hessman
I'm sure I'm not the only one who is dealing with trying to offer more things on line.
The organization web site I am working on has had to temporarily offer all meetings on line. I created a "Virtual Meeting" location and had to put some text into the coordinates box to get it to save. It looks like it converted that to 0,0 which is fine, but -- it would be nice if we could have some Events Booking features for this very different type of "Location." Right now I am creating the meeting in our virtual meeting platform and copy/pasting the meeting information into the specific event's registration confirmation, to be sent to users, and that should work (I hope!).
Does anyone else have ideas/needs for offering on line meetings listed in Events Booking?

Hello
Maybe you can:
- Enter the URL of the Virtual Meeting into Name parameter of the location
- Enter 0,0 into Coordinates field if needed
- Leave address field of location empty
Not sure if it works for your need?

Hi - I tried that and it didn't work sadly.
I agree this is going to be a frequently asked question in the current climate.
Any chance we could hoist this to the top of the list?
It's a slow job having to add it into all the email confirmations and messages.
Thanks

So exactly how you want it to work? Please explain how you want it to work so that we can understand the requirement and hopefully, we can support it

1. It would be good to have a link to the Online Tool in the Location. eg Your business account link to Zoom, WebEx, GoogleHangouts etc.
2. At present we are having to override the Global Mail configuration and add text with specific Zoom Room links to each Event's email confirmation (all types - group and Individual etc) which is time-consuming and open to errors.
- What would be REALLY useful would be to be able to
I hope this makes sense. Please ask me if you need more clarification or a further example.
MANY MANY THANKS for considering this. I have many clients looking to add online booking/training tools to their websites and will be using this tool a lot more!

- add [VIRTUAL_LINK] as one of the tags in each of the global emails and messages
- and configure these as we presently do for Geographical Location {LOCATION]

Sue summed up the basic requirements well. I should point out that once the pandemic subsides, some events may be both in-person and virtual/broadcast, and the ability to identify the type of event, adding remote participation, would be fabulous.
Farther down your development path, it would be worth looking into integration with the major players in the virtual meeting marketplace.

I would also like to ask for this feature as well. Now we are in pandemic mode all my meetings/events are online and yes it is a pain in the butt either redirecting to the zoom registration site or as sue does copy and pasting zoom rooms into event emails. The other way I have done it is to mass email event registrants an hour or so before the meeting with the zoom room location.
But I would also like to ask for the ability to have events that are both remote and face-to-face at the same time.
Thanks for a great product and a responsive solution for this wish!

I like Sue's [VIRTUAL_LINK] suggestion but it may not work with shopping cart functionality and there may be a need to provide more info than a link so the variable would have to be a text message. I don't think Location is the right place for this functionality as each event may need unique credentials. You don't want to make the Event access/login info public information. Think Zoom bombing...
I would suggest a solution that can be:
Some solutions might be:
My current method is to use the First and Second Reminder Email functionality. I enter my virtual meeting info in the First Reminder Email Body and set it to send two days before the mtg. I also set up a cron job to trigger the Reminder plugin. This seems to work okay but it would be nice to have it sent as part of the registration confirmation emails. It also works with the shopping cart functionality cuz the registrant eventually gets all the meeting credentials of the events purchased. Currently, only one email goes out for multiple event registrations in single transaction. It does no good to use the registration message override for on a specific event cuz the system only sends the message from the first event in the shopping cart.
Maybe another solution might be something similar to my Reminder workaround but be part of the registration process like the following:
4. Add a message type to Edit Event|Messages tab labeled "Private Message". This message behaves just like the Reminder Messages because it acts on the Registrants for the event so you solve the shopping cart functionality. The Private Message is sent out automatically after a completed registration process if populated (contains data).
Would love to hear additional thoughts on the proposed.

I would suggest a solution that can be:
- unique for each event
- work with the additional dates functionality
- is not visible or indexable on the front end
- sent out to the registrant after registration is complete
- work with shopping cart function as much as possible (registering for multiple events with unique meeting credentials)
Some solutions might be:
- Have a tab on the Edit Event view in Event Manager labeled "Private Information" with up to three possible message fields that can be inserted into any message in the system, think User Email Body, Admin Email Body, etc. and sent to the user embedded in those messages.
- Add another message option to the Edit Event|Messages tab that can be sent after registration and in addition to the various Registration completed messages.
- Similar to number one but make it possible to embed into [REGISTRATION DETAIL] message variable for each specific event purchased so it can work with shopping cart function.

Another method would be using this plugin
eventbookingdoc.joomservices.com/plugins/content-restriction
to restrict access to the content (in description of the event) so that only the people who registered for the event can see it

What do you do if you don't have a database of registered users or have the system configured with a shopping cart? (answer, you use the reminder email functionality...)
