How should I configure a variant? was created by spitjack
I have a small catalog of downloadable self-published items (sheet music). I now have written variants to five of these items - same music, but different instrumentation, sku, and price. Since I don't see a 'variants' option, there is no obvious way to post version A and version B prices simultaneously, each with their own add-to-cart button. How would you suggest I do this without complicating the site with extra pages and links? I don't consider these to be an upsell or a discount relative to each other, just variants to suit different customer needs.

a 'spit' is a rod upon which savory food was roasted, turned in ancient times by a worker called a 'jack', a middle English word for an ordinary laborer (eg jack of all trades, steeplejack, lumberjack). Today, this is done by a 19th C machine.

(I think your answer will be options - A, B, or both. The misfit is that the product doesn't have a base price with upsell or discount depending on option. I am not using category pages so I am stumped at finding a way to show both variants with their associated prices at once. Maybe two product modules will work?)

Edit: I have found I can fake it by using a separate product item in the module - categories doesn't work if short description is enabled, only one item shows and the rest of the page (and the console) is white. The solution I've found is a grok, not really an example of efficient use of Eshop. I will leave this ticket open as the short description failure on categories seems to be a bug; you must be busy as you are usually quick to respond.
