Trouble with Category/Permissions was created by Connecting Point
Hello,
I am trying to set up the categories/folders, users to follow a specific hierarchy that was being used with another uploader program. The current documentation appears to be from an older version.
My current issue is that when I set the permissions, I am still able to see other folders that I shouldn't be able to.
I will put the specifics in the private area.

Hi,
Thank you for your detailed explanation.
In this case, you will need to create separate Joomla access levels for each category group. For example, for the CPI group, you should create an access level named "CPI" and assign it to the "CPI" category. Do the same for the other categories (CPIRHP, MTCO, Heart, etc.) by creating corresponding access levels and assigning them to each category.
After that, you can create an access level called "CPI LaSalle" and include all related groups (CPI, CPIRHP, MTCO, Heart) in this access level. Any user who is assigned to the "CPI LaSalle" access level will then be able to access all these categories.
You can follow the same approach for the CPI Macomb group and its subcategories.
This way, you can control exactly which users and groups have access to each category, according to your desired hierarchy.
If you need further guidance or have any questions while setting this up, please let me know—I’m happy to help!
Best regards,
Dam

Hi,
Yes, you can absolutely configure the Access Levels (ACL) manually for each category or folder. This gives you full control over which user groups have access to which content.
If your preference is to manage access per folder, you can set Access Level Inheritance (ALI) to No and then configure the permissions for each category individually. This is a valid and flexible setup.
Thanks
Dam

Hi,
I created a user in the "Macomb Office Administrator" group and tested it on the frontend. When accessing the "CPI LaSalle" category details page, no documents are displayed. This means the permissions are working correctly as intended.
Thanks
Dam

Hi,
Thank you for your message.
Could you please send me the link to the page where the list of categories is displayed? This will allow me to check and verify the access permissions for the Macomb Administrator group.
Thanks
