Is there a Max file size for upload? was created by NICK_Q
HI Tuan,

I am attempting to upload an mp3 file which is 29Mb in size. I have included the extension "mp3" within the allowable file types and I have also increased the max file size to 50MB. however the upload does not work.

I am able to upload a smaller (much smaller :) ) mp3 so assume it this is about file size? the change in the configuration appears to set the "Max Upload File Size" - does this amend the INI file setting or do I need to make changes there too or are there other constraints?

Hi Nick

You will need to change the settings on your server as well (in php.ini file). Maybe it will be easier to contact your hosting support and ask them to change it for you. Setting in Configuration in EDocman is not enough.

Hi Tuan,

Thought as much - OK, I have tried that and can confirm that, because of the use of a shared server, this is not an option. The cost of going to a VPS or a dedicated server is also not an opiton for this client.

I know you can "address" a document (including an mp3 presumably!) at another location on the web (different server) from within the configuration, Are you aware of a solution that would provide access to say a "Dropbox" type store, and provide the necessary access required to download a file (without people being able to edit, add or delete files) only from a designated domain (and potentially registered users only).

It occurs to me that this faccility, if availabe, would be are real asset to an already impressive extension like eDocman!

Hi NICK

At the moment, EDocman doesn't support Dropbox, so it is not possible. I was thinking about the integration between EDocman and Dropbox but haven't had time to work on the integration yet. Will try the integration in the future.

Without changing from the server settings, I am afraid of users cannot upload these large files (all these large files are prevented from being uploaded by server, not by EDocman). So in this case, maybe you will need to find a different solutions or maybe you will have to reduce the filesize .

Hi Tuan,

OK - I might be able to offer some additional info here :)

Having sent may last response I thought I would go and try a Dropbox connection - and it worked!

Clearlly, at this point you have to upload the file directly to dropbox and then place the file specific link URL in the eDocman configuration setting. Having done this, althought no file "details" are available, the linking process works!

I dont know Dropbox well enough, but for an mp3 file, the only option dropbox displays is a download option - ideal for my use in this senario.

When and if you do get around to an off site storage option (Dropbox, S3 etc.), as I said before I can see that being REALLY popular!

if you want testers, or any other input from me please just ask...

Menawhile I will let you know if I find any other "wrinkles" in the process :)
