Docman to EDocman migrator component was created by Tuan Pham Ngoc
Hi all
Last week, a customer contacted us and ask us to write a migrator component to allow migrating data from Docman (in Joomla 1.5) to EDocman. I completed the component and post it here in case you need it. The steps to do the migration are :
1. Get the component here and install it on your Joomla 2.5 website .
2. Install EDocman on your Joomla 2.5 website .
3. Go to EDocman Migrator -> Configuration, enter database information of your Joomla 1.5 website where Docman is installed .
4. Go to EDocman Migrator -> Process Migrate to process the migration. All categories and documents from Docman will be migrated to EDocman .
If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to ask .
Regards,
Tuan

Sorry. we don't have that plugin. I think you need to contact Docman developer and ask them about it.

Hi
I believe we can use the same migrator component. Maybe you can send me a copy of the current version of Docman you are using on your site so that I can check and make sure you can migrate ?

wow, it worked... well except for the categories. is there something I need to do for that? if not is there an easy way to get multiple docs in a category?

Hi Jonathan
In the latest version of EDocman, you will be able to assign document to multiple categories. Have you tried that feature yet ? Just edit the document and assign it to the categories you want.

yeah, I saw that. But what I was wondering is the migrator doesn't migrate the categories over. should it?
I'm going from Docman v1.6.7 to Edocman 1.5.2 on Joomla 2.5.8

Hi Jonathan
The categories should be migrated properly. In this case , there must be something on your site prevent it from working well. Please submit a support ticket sending us administrator, FTP account of your site and also give us access to your site database so that we can check it for you.

Tuan
