major bugfixing and some customizations needed

hi,

i experienced some major issues after installation of your component. the issues are very basic and they make the extension unusable to me at the moment.

1. Item Count for Subdirectories

Items in subdirectories don´t count to parent directory. Therefore the parent directory will always show 0 items if empty. Users aren´t going to browse throught "empty" categories so they never will come to the offered files.

because of the same bug i have the problem that i can´t switch off showing of empty categories in category view as it will also switch of categories which have items in subdirectories.

2. Order Buttons don´t turn into Download Buttons after succesfull purchase

when a user orders a file and later comes back to the details page or to the items listing it will still show the order button for an already purchased item to him. i expect this button to turn into a download button as long as the download is valid for the user.

sometimes (in fact very often) users will lose their order mails with the links and when this happens they have no possibility to download the file again from the system. as the order mails with links are optional user should be capable of downloading the file from the directory listing.

it makes no sense to show an order button for an already purchased file which is still valid for download.

3. JomSocial Integration isn´t working

Im using JomSocial 2.2.2 stable and the JomSocial integration for the auto fill in of the order form isn´t working. i have added the field code of the user profile fields but it´s not working.

As i have a fair amount of offline orders i can´t use the alternative method of using the info out of the payment notification.

4. Order Comments disappear

user creates an offline order and adds a comment, f.e. about the payment option he would like to choose. he confirms the order and he will come to the order complete screen. on that screen the comment doesn´t show up.
what is even more worse it isn´t showing up in the backend too when i check the order. so the comments aren´t functional in any way.

5. Order Complete Screen for Offline Orders is the same as for Online Orders

when user has made an online order he gets the same order complete screen as when he has successfully done an online order. So he gets instructions which are worthless to him and in worst case will confuse him.

6. Pagination in Columns View

_DISPLAY_NUM next to the dropdown for number of items to display.

7. !!! Downloads aren´t discounted !!!

i have added a file with a download limit of 9 times. after i have downloaded once i would have expected that processed download would be discounted but the counter for valid downloads of the file is still 9.


Questions how to customize the extension...

a) i need to set a custom redirection after adding an item to the cart so i can use the cart outside of the extension, f.e. i use ZOO as a catalog system and users should be able to add items inside the catalog to the cart and if they have done this it would be great if they could stay on the same page or at least will be redirected to the catalogs frontpage.

to be honest i´m not really happy with your solution at this point as i think there is simply no need for a redirection to a different page after adding an item to the cart. i don´t see any logical reason for that. a cart should make it possible to buy several items at a time but when the page changes every time you add an item to the cart it´s not a positive shopping experience for the user.

so best solution would be to get rid of the redirection.

b) i need a total price for the items in the cart view so customers can see how much it would cost them at any point when shopping whithout clicking on checkout.

c) i need a clear cart button so user can clear the cart without going to the checkout.

d) i need a function to reset the download counter for a user.



I´m using your extension on Joomla 1.5 at the moment.

edit: i have to say that i´m simply disappointed. so much major bugs in a "stable" product version of a comercial extension isn´t what i´m used to especially as you got a lot of positive ratings. ^^

First of all, I am sorry for could not reply you earlier. Finally, I have time to look at the mentioned issues this weekend . Here are my comments :

1. Item Count for Subdirectories :

=> Yes, I confirm that right now the system doesn't count the documents in sub-categories, so this is a bug and I will need to fix it. Please give me tomorrow to fix it .

2. Order Buttons don´t turn into Download Buttons after succesfull purchase

=> Yes, it is. However, it is how the extension designed to work. The idea here is that it allows users to purchase the document even they purchased it before (for example, if we use DMS to sell Joomla extensions, one user can purchase the extension more than one time - a license for client A's site, one license for client's B site....) . So by showing the order button here, we have a chance to get more sale from the same client. If users want to download purchased document, they can simply access to Orders history .

3. JomSocial Integration isn´t working

=> I just tested and It works here. Can you give me administrator account of your site so that I can check your setting ?

4. Order Comments disappear

=> I just tested and the comment does appear on confirmation page. But yes, it is not showed from back-end, so I will need to fix this .

5. Order Complete Screen for Offline Orders is the same as for Online Orders

=> The extension used to have a different confirmation message for online and offline payment but for some reason, the message for offline payment was removed from configuration section in the latest version. I will add this config message back to the latest version on tomorrow and It will solve the issue .

6. Pagination in Columns View

=> Are you using Joomla 1.5 or Joomla 1.6 ?

7. !!! Downloads aren´t discounted !!!

=> I think you mis-understand the setting here . The download count is used to prevent the customers from downloading the purchased Documents for X times, not a global setting for the document. That means if you set download count to 2 times, when you purchased the document, you can only download it 2 times. if other customer purchases the same document, he can download it 2 times , too (independent between customers) .

for free downloads you offer a download button. for a user it is extremely important to have a consistancy in usability of the site. things which doesn´t work in a way which is expected, cause sometimes it works this way and sometimes not, is confusing and will produce a ton of unecessary support tickets.

your example with software licences makes sense but what about graphics, mp3, pdf-documents, etc.? - i´m not selling software licences and this way the software is simply useless to me.

the extension should by default turn the order-buttons into a download-button as this is for sure what most users will need. keeping the order-buttons should be optional.

i tested two times with a fresh site and on a backup of my productive site. it´s not working with jomsocial 2.2.2/2.2.3 on joomla 1.5. i don´t see how an admin-account to my site is going to change that.

i think i understood it right. it´s not working the way i described and and it´s not working the way you described it, which is the same.

when a user purchase an item with a download limit of 9 times he can download the item as much times as he want, f.e. 100 times.
the download limit isn´t working!

again i describe what i did...

i created an item with a download limit of 9 times per purchase. i purchased the item and went to "my downloads". i downloaded the item 1 time. remaining download count for the user should be now 8. in fact the count is still 9 and the user can download the item unlimeted times! so successfull downloads aren´t discounted.



it´s more than one week now and your extension is still not usable to me. core functionality isn´t working and overall it seems the logic of this product has huge flaws too. again i´m disappointed.

I am sorry. I can understand while you feel disappointed with the products at this point because some of the features doesn't work as you want, but I can tell you that some of them are bugs (which I confirmed at my previous post) and some of them are not .

I usuall quick at response. However, in the last week, I spent most of my time to work on new version of my other extension called Event Booking and I am late on this, I am sorry again.

For now :

1. Please give me two more days to work on these issues to make sure It works as expected .

2. After all the issues fixed, I will try my best to guide you to customize the extension to meet your need .

First of all, I am sorry for could not fix the issue on time . I was busy with some family work (my brother got married) and could not work much last week. I just refunded your money . Please check your account to get it .

You can still use the extension. Don't give it up. The issues here are small , I fixed some of them and will continue fixing it . I promise they will all be fixed and I will send the updated version to you on Wednesday next week so that you can use it .

ok i waited 3 more additional weeks...

first of all i have to say that i got my money back and i think it´s very generous from you to grant me the download for free. on the other side i still need a working solution. so what happened to this bugs? are they fixed? how can i customize the software to my needs?

just to make this clear i´m willing to pay. if you fix the bugs i will resend the money. if you make the customizations i will pay extra.
