Single user configuration

Single user configuration was created by KODE
Plese just a question very important for me:
Does EDocman support assigning a document to a specific single user (not a user group), so that only that individual user can view and download it? Does the jDownloads migration tool transfer the user_access field (single user assignment) from jDownloads to EDocman?.
It's crucial to migrate from jdownloads to avoid having to perform file-by-file rights assignment for over 6,000 files and 1,500 users.
Thanks
Best regards

Hi Kode,
At the moment, the migration tool from jDownloads to EDocman does not fully support migrating the user_access field for single-user document assignment in all cases. However, in the migration process, the value from the user_access  column in jDownloads is stored into the user_ids column in EDocman. This means that the user(s) stored in this field will be the only users allowed to access and download the corresponding documents from the frontend.
Also, the database structure of jDownloads may have changed or been improved in recent versions, so we would need to check your current jDownloads data structure directly before confirming the best migration approach.
For this case, please submit a support ticket under the EDocman category and provide access to your site/database, or at least a sample of the relevant jDownloads tables. Our team will then review it and assist you directly with the migration.
Thanks
Dam

Thank you for your reply.
I'm using a clean setup of the latest version of jdownloads: 4.1.6 on Joomla 5.1.7 on the WAMP platform.
Apparently the uploaded files, the user categories they are associated with as unique users are unchanged from the working version 3.9 on joomla 3.9.10 which is to be discontinued.
The problem that's leading me to replace it with EDocman is the inability to perform downloads for the unique users set (even if they're authenticated, they're not authorized) and some inconsistencies in displaying files associated with unique users (for example, user A can see files associated with user C).
I'll send you the data you requested on Monday, but I'm not sure: can I send it here or where?
Could you explain it to me better, as if I were the idiot I am?
Thanks
Have a good weekend

Hi Kode,
Thank you for the detailed information.
No worries at all — this kind of migration and user permission issue can be confusing, so your questions are completely understandable.
To send us the requested data, please log in to our website, then click the Support Tickets menu at the top of the page. From there, please create a new ticket and select the EDocman category.
You can then provide the site/database access there, or attach/share the relevant jDownloads data that you mentioned. Our team will review it and assist you directly with the migration.
Thanks,
Dam
