EDocman question about user files was created by Dom Cassone
I need an extension where users (in the appropriate User Group) can easily upload, download, and maintain files that are only accessible to them (and management users). It is important that, while the files do not need to be stored in a separate location per user, the are marked as belonging to that user so that I cannot see yours and you cannot see mine.

Additionally, there needs to be a page that they can go to in order to manage their files from the front end.

It would be nice to have, but not necessary, to have the ability to have specific users who manage the general users have a dashboard so that they can see all the users files and maintain them. I like the functionality (as I understand it) that when a file is uploaded by a manager for me, I am notified.

If you EDocman can help, I am ready to get started on implementing this today!

Thanks!

Hi Dom,
Thank you for reaching out and sharing your requirements. I am pleased to confirm that EDocman can fully meet your needs:
- Permission Management: You can easily set up permissions for specific user groups, allowing them to upload and download documents as required.
- User-Specific File Access: When users upload documents, only they and management users (administrators) will have access to those files. Other users will not be able to see files that do not belong to them.
- Front-End and Back-End Management: EDocman provides a front-end page for users to manage their own files. Additionally, administrators have access to a back-end dashboard where they can view and manage all files uploaded by users.

Please let us know if you have any further questions or if you need a demonstration.
Thanks
Dam

Thank you so much for your reply. We have bought Edocman and are working our way up the learning curve.

Is there a way from the front-end for person overseeing the users and their files to have a dashboard? Or is that only available from the back end? That way, the person in charge managing the files for a group of users can see them, upload files for different users, edit the files, etc. I could have the person managing the files for users log into each user account to manage that user's files, but was hoping for a more global solution. The people who would be managing the users' files is not familiar with the Joomla back end at all.

Thanks,
Dom
