PayPal Advanced Checkout was created by jd1980
I have a website where we use three of your great components Membership Pro, Event Booking and Eshop.
My client uses PayPal (currently PayPal Standard Checkout - smart buttons), but they and want to upgrade to PayPal Advanced Checkout so that they can accept Apple Pay and Google Pay payments.
This page in the PayPal docs explains how to upgrade from Standard > Advanced Checkout:
developer.paypal.com/docs/checkout/advanced/upgrade/
It doesn't seem to be hugely challenging - you just need to change the JavaScript SDK Script Tag, and then update your HTML code by replacing your Standard Checkout PayPal buttons code with the Advanced Checkout PayPal card fields and payment button code sample. According to the docs, "you don't need to set up server-side processing when you upgrade from Standard Checkout to Advanced Checkout".
Please could you let me known if creating a PayPal Advanced Checkout payment plugin (or having it as an option for the existing plugin) is on your roadmap for Membership Pro, Event Booking and Eshop, and what sort of timescale?
Many thanks again and a Happy New Year.
Jen

Hi Jen
I will give it a try. But I could no promise exactly the time it will be available yet. Will need to read documentation to see what change is needed first

Is there any update on this?
Paypal are pushing all of their clients to move to the advanced checkout (at least here in the UK).
Would me more than happy to pay for this as a new payment plugin - as i am sure would many others.

So I looked the documentation and do not see any improvements with the upgrade. From what I see, the only thing different is there is new card fields to allow paying using credit cards, but that's already supported by the current PayPal Standard Checkout implement. So I do not see why upgrade is needed
However, I made small update to the payment plugin to store Correct PayPal Transaction ID for the payment. Before, it uses ID of the order as Transaction ID, so when you check the PayPal Transaction ID from the registration record, it is different with the Transaction ID from PayPal. It is now fixed, so you should still update to latest version of the payment plugin

Tuan

Hi Tuan,
I've found this table which shows the difference:
www.paypalobjects.com/marketing/pp-com-u...tandard_Checkout.pdf
The main reason that I was interested in this was because Advanced Checkout allows you to accept payments by Google Pay and Apple Pay. Apparently it also supports recurring payments.

Yes, I saw that although I could not see much difference from the term of coding. I could not create a sandbox account which allows me to test credit card, google pay, apple pay for some reasons
If you can help me with a sandbox account, I will be happy to work on it further
Regards,
Tuan

I will need to have Client ID, Client Secret of the sandbox account which I can use for testing. I have a sandbox account, but it is does not support credit card, Google Pay...., so I could not test the PayPal Expanded Checkout option
