OS Services Booking: Billing + Calendar questions was created by Nigel Kendrick
Hi All,
PS: I submitted these questions via the Web page enquiries form a few days ago and didn't get a reply.
- Can bookings be set to process a payment before the booking is accepted - for some cases we don't want to invoice.
- We propose to use the system to process bookings for consulting/meeting/training rooms for freelancers and don't want their names shown on calendars etc. when others are looking for an available room etc. Is it possible to hide the names? In essence, the people booking through the system will mostly be external to our business.

Hi Nigel,
1. OS Services Booking has feature to process a payment before the booking is accepted
2. It will need a bit modification to hide customer names on the calendars.
Thanks
Dam

Thanks for the quick response, Dam.
#2 may be a deal breaker for us unless there is an 'off' switch to hide the info or we can do a temporary fix by editing some PHP somewhere. I have purchased the plugin so I can work my way round configuring it to see where I end up!
What we were hoping for, was a free/busy calendar with no names on it, and when a customer logs in they can select a service/venue and book it without any reference to 'employees' or seeing a list of other employees.
This raises a further question - we would like to change the word 'employee' to 'customer' - is that a simple change in a language file?
Edit: I found the Translation menu!
Overall, I think the software is well put together, but has a focus on internal employees rather that services bookings for external customers and only a few tweaks would make that a reality - any thoughts on whether this could be added to the development cycle?
Thanks again
Nigel

It sounds like you’re navigating through the configuration pretty well! For hiding the 'employee' info, if there isn't a direct 'off' switch, tweaking the PHP files could be a temporary workaround. It's good that you've already purchased the plugin, as it gives you the flexibility to experiment and customize.Regarding the terminology change from 'employee' to 'customer', finding the Translation menu was definitely the right move. That should simplify things and make the software align better with your needs.Your feedback about the focus on internal employees versus external customer bookings is insightful. It seems like just a few adjustments could make it more versatile for different use cases. Reaching out to the development team with these suggestions might be worthwhile—many software providers appreciate user input to guide future updates.Good luck with the configuration, and it’s great to hear the software mostly aligns with your needs! Thanks for the quick response, Dam.

Overall, I think the software is well put together, but has a focus on internal employees rather than services bookings for external customers. A few tweaks could make that a reality. In fact, with advancements in Internet of Things (IoT) technology, integrating such features might become more seamless and efficient. Many companies are already leveraging IoT solutions to enhance customer interactions, manage resources, and streamline booking processes. For example, professional IoT development teams, like those at Cogniteq www.cogniteq.com/internet-things , are capable of building tailored solutions that align perfectly with your needs, ensuring that your service booking process is efficient and customer-friendly.
Thanks again
Nigel
