Joom Donation - does it support categories?

I am looking to buy this but wanted to know if campaigns can be ordered by category and whether there is a search function? 

Also, is it possible to use this to create petitions in addition to donation campaigns?

Up to now, Joom Donation doesn't support categories for campaigns. It also doesn't have search function.
By the way, we haven't seen the case to use Joom Donation to create petitions in addition to donation campaigns?

Does it have the option to add tags? Just looking for some way to categorise campaigns, or actually, maybe it can be done through custom menu links or something?

In terms of petitions, could it potentially be used? It already has the main elements so would just need an extra option to switch from donation to count option to show number of takers for petitions.

These plus some way of searching/filtering would make this even more powerful. Unless there is some generic search module that could be used with it like Smart Search?

When you setup menus to list campaigns at frontend, you can enter Campaign IDs that will be shown in those menus. But of course, having campaign categories will be easier to manage campaigns.
About the search function, currently, Joom Donation doesn't have any search functions. Because in case you have some few campaigns, you won't need search function.
Maybe in future, when we add campaign categories, we will add Joomla Smart search plugin for Joom Donation extension.

Yes, it definitely needs categories I see it integrates with easysocial and this is what we want. So community members can create campaigns (so there will be lots). Also the ability to search/filter.

Do you think you will add these features in the future? If yes, any idea of a timescale?

Sure, you can submit ticket on category: Joom Donation, and i will able to send you new Joom Donation when it is available.
By the way, Joom Donation has search module which you can use to search through available campaigns.
