Membership Pro and Documents Seller was created by Nancy
Hello,
I purchased Document Seller today and am thinking about also purchasing Membership Pro. I have 2 questions.
1. When using both, can I offer the same documents that are for sale on Document Seller to Membership Pro subscribers for free? Is this possible?
2. If I require people to make an account to purchase documents, can those same people have their account integrated with Membership Pro if they decide to subscribe? I don't want people to have to deal with multiple accounts. Let's say someone purchases a document and wants to have access to it again via their account. If they decide to subscribe, I don't want them to have to log into one account to see their documents and another account to view parts of the website.
Or am I going about this the wrong way? Maybe I didn't need Document Seller to accomplish this and only Membership Pro? I have a very extensive website for 22 years. I would like to offer subscription only for access to view parts of the website since these areas provide access to articles from my 30 years of research. These restricted areas I would like to offer PDF version for free to members but offer a few of them for sale to non-members. Other areas of the website are open to the public but I need members to be able to download PDF version for free and direct non-members to purchase PDF version.
Thank you for any help you can give. I am hoping Membership Pro can help me accomplish these things.

Hello Nancy
1. Yes, you can. But you will need to setup these documents in two different places :
- One document for Sales in Documents Seller
- One document to allow subscribers to download after they subscribe for the plan in Membership Pro.
Unfortunately, it could not be managed in a single place
2. If someone creates an account via Documents Seller (or via Membership Pro), they can use that account on the other extensions, so they don't have to create separate accounts, don't worry. That's a Joomla account, and can be used on whole your site, in all extensions
3. Membership Pro could handle it all, without requiring Documents Seller. However, for each single document you want to sell, you will need to create a subscription plan for it. Not sure if it works for you (won't work if you have too many documents, I think)
Regards,
Tuan

Sounds like this will all work. I do have another question.
On each article there will be a text link for members to download the PDF. I am hoping to place another text link for non-members to purchase the PDF on some articles. Is it possible for the text link to create a popup for the purchase (Document Seller) rather than having the user navigate away from the article to make the purchase?
Oh one last question that applies to both Membership Pro and Documents Seller. Are the links to the downloads unique to each purchase? I am trying to figure out how the downloads actually work. If I am limiting downloads I am assuming the link if shared around the internet would not be usable after the limit?
I have had so much of my work plagiarized over the years and am trying to stop some of it. I know once it's on the internet it becomes pretty much fair game but I am trying to lock some of it down and still be able to share with people. My PDF files are secured but I understand people can still unlock them. Just trying to slow the plagiarism down a bit. Which does lead me to another question.
I was looking at another document seller before I purchased yours. The problem was that when I uploaded my document, if it was purchased, the PDF was unlocked and stamped so all of my security was stripped from it. I want to make sure that the PDF stays in the form I upload it and it is delivered to the purchaser with the same security and restrictions I apply to the original.
Thanks so much for your quick reply. This should be the last of my questions.

Hello Nancy
1. I don't know how you can put the link to allow members to download PDF ? The link is unique for each order, not sure how you can get it ?
2. For link to purchase, unfortunately, we do not have an option to make the button add items to cart and show the popup.
3. For link to download documents :
- In Membership Pro, users need to login to download, so they cannot share the link
- In Documents Seller, if you send download link to users, you can limit number of Downloads (for example, set it to 3) to prevent they share and too many users download it
4. The document will be stored as how you upload it. It does not unlock any security which you added to that document
Regards,
Tuan

Hello Tuan,
Thank you for the information. Sorry for the confusion. If I am reading the information about Membership Pro correctly, my plan was to put the documents that are free for members in a specific folder that would only be accessible to members thereby being able to link to a specific document for each article. Or am I misunderstanding how Membership Pro works? I also am assuming that if a member tried to share the link it would not be accessible to others unless they also shared their membership info? The documents that are in the store would be through the Document Seller.
Please correct me if I have this all wrong. I am about ready to purchase the Membership Pro.
I am impressed with the features of the Document Seller. Very nice. There is one thing I would like to change but it looks like it's in a js file and possibly my css is interfering with it. I would like to change the font color of the price on the "Order it" (I changed the text to "Buy") button to white and have no parentheses if possible. The buttons are getting their coloring from my css which is great but I suspect the price might be header style which is why it is coming up black and bold. If you could point me in the right direction I would appreciate it. This is in the category list of documents and the document details page. I have attached screenshots.
Thanks again!
Nancy

Hello Nancy
1. For Membership Pro, there are two standard ways for members to access to the documents which they are allowed to access :
- Access to his user profile page, My Documents tab, see list of documents and download it from there
- Or you create a menu item to allow users to access, see list of documents and download it from there
So if you want to insert link to article, you will need to access to these pages and copy the links from there to insert into the article. These links will be protected, only active subscribers can download, so users cannot share it. Don't worry
2. About Documents Seller
- To change the font, we will need to add custom css. You can submit a support ticket to send us super admin account of your site and we will do that
- To remove the parentless, code modification will be needed. If it is really needed, we can do that for you as well
Regards,
Tuan

Hello Tuan,
Thank you for the information. I will submit a support ticket but I am going to wait until I have Membership Pro purchased and installed in case there is anything else.
There are a couple of other issues, like the checkout button not working properly when in the table layout (gets a 404 error) works fine in default and columns layout.
I am very good at coding most things, if you can tell me what the custom css for changing the font is and where it should go, I can probably do it myself.
I thought it best to wait to do a support ticket until I have most done so if there are multiple issues you can handle it all at one time unless you prefer one at a time.
Thanks again!
