Hi we were considering getting Events Booking when we renew Membership Pro. However, we have a major concern.

We are looking for an event registration and payment system for paid classes and workshops, most of which will run for more than one day, or on the same day of the week for 4 to 6 weeks. But, we will charge a single fee for the series of dates of a class or workshop, and we want a single registration to include all child events (not to force students to register for all six recurring classes). In other words a single registration and payment needs to be $100 for five classes (a week apart); not registration and payment for five separate classes at $20 each.

In reading your documentation on Events (Basic Concept, Add New Events, and Recurring Events sub-headings), it does not sound like this will be possible using your extension. I am basing this concern as a result of the following statement in your documentation: "Each recurring child event is an independent event and it's own registrants."

Please advise.

Hi Les

Yes. The extension does not handle this requirement perfectly. In this case, you can create a recurring event as normal. However, you will need to set Registration Type for the child events to Disable Registration so that users can only register for parent event, not the child events

The other option would be customize some code so that click on register button for child event will redirect users to registration form of parent event. But it will cost you some extra fee (40$ to 60$, depends on what kind of layout you are using to display events)

Maybe you can go ahead to purchase a copy of the extension to try to understand it's features first. If it does not work as expected, you can request us for refund

Tuan

Thanks Tuan,
If it's is not too difficult to implement your first suggestion (to disable registration in child events), that could be a workable solution. In that case, I would like main and child events to appear in the calendar and mini calendar, and the main events that allow registration to appear in upcoming events list (maybe by making them "featured" or something). Would that also be possible?
You may be correct that I need to try it out.

You can edit the child events and change Registration Type to disable Registration manually yourself

As I said, give it a try to understand how the extension works first, and we can discuss from there

Don't worry about the money, you can request for refund any time you want
