The default PayPal payment plugin comes with Events Booking is PayPal Standard payment plugin. With that payment plugin, registrants will be redirected to PayPal website for processing payment (they can pay using their PayPal account or by credit card)
The PayPal Pro payment plugin is not Pro version of the standard payment plugin. As you wrote, it use API for PayPal, it allows registrants to enter credit card information directly on the site for processing payment. However:
1. PayPal Pro is only available in some countries like US, UK, Canada, Australia
2. PayPal charges you monthly fee if you want to use PayPal Pro
So please think about it carefully if you decide to purchase and use PayPal Pro payment plugin
