EShop Questions was created by Cymdeithas Madog
We're looking at EShop as a way of handling payments for an annual course (e.g., course payments, accommodation, extra tour, etc). Before we can make a decision, I hope that you can answer a couple questions around EShop's capabilities.
  1. I understand that EShop has a guest account feature (i.e., shoppers can provide their name and address at the time of purchase without having to create an account). We would like to have all shoppers use this feature. Is it possible to set up EShop so that shoppers can only use the guest account feature (i.e., they cannot make an account)?
  2. If we can't force a shopper to use a guest account, does a user creating an EShop account also create a Joomla account? Conversely, does creating a Joomla account automatically create an Eshop account?
  3. We take our payments through our PayPal account. I note that a PayPal Pro payment plugin is available from our plugins page. Is there a PayPal payment plugin that comes standard with Eshop, or must we pay for each plugin separately

Thanks for your help in this matter.

Hello Cymdeithas,

Thank you so much for interesting in our EShop Shopping Cart extension. Regarding your questions:

1 & 2. Yes, EShop supports 3 of Checkout Type: Only Guest, Only Registered Users and Both. So you just need to go to the configuration of EShop to choose Only Guest for Checkout Type, after that shoppers can checkout the products without having to create an account. It works exactly as your expect.

3. We have 2 payment plugins for PayPal:
+ Standard PayPal API is included as built-in payment plugin in the package so you must not purchase it. You will have it in the EShop package.
+ PayPal Pro is an extra add-on payment plugin so if you want to use it, you must go to joomdonation.com/payment-plugins/eshop-payment-plugins.html to purchase it (cost $20.68)

Hope to receive the order from you for EShop soon.
Sincerely, Giang
