Installing - Max File Size - Dumb Question was created by Ryan Kieffer
Hey guys,

Trying to install the com_eventbooking. I've tried changed the post_max_size and upload_max_filesize in my php.ini file and also added ..
php_value post_max_size "800M"
php_value upload_max_filesize "300M"
.. to my .htaccess file. Still getting the error message when I try to install (see attached) and the PHP information under Settings >> System Information is still showing the standard 2M / 8M parameters. Somehow my server is not reading the updated info.

Any ideas, or a step by step on how to manually install? I'm having trouble doing that as well :( Man!

Thanks,
Ryan

Hello Ryan,

In your Joomla Back-end area, go to content > media > option

Then set max size to for example 100 MB and set the parameter restrict upload to "NO". That should fix the problem :)

Thanks @hossein for your answer. The settings you mentioned will only affect files upload via Joomla Media Manager, it won't affect the file upload via Joomla Extensions Installer

@Ryan: I think the easiest way would be contacting your hosting provider, ask them to increase upload_max_filesize settings for your hosting account (for example to 4 MB). Other option would be submitting a support ticket sending us super admin and FTP account of your site. We will use Install from Folder method to install the extension for you

Regards,

Tuan

I don't know what magical beans hossein put in the post, but what was advised seemed to have worked. Perhaps it was the "Restrict Upload to NO" ?? Or perhaps the changes to .htaccess file had finally taken root after a while when I tried again. We just upgraded this site from J1.5 to 3.xx so still ironing out the hiccups.

Any rate, thanks to you both! I'm in.

Hello,

I am happy to hear that the issue if fixed @Ryan. :)

You are right @Tuan. Logically, these new settings should only affect files upload via Joomla Media Manager. But, it fixed this issue for me two. I had the same problem for more than one week and finally it was fixed by changing these parameters.

Good luck both,
Hossein ;)
