Hi,
Akeeba Release System is officialy 'dropped: www.akeebabackup.com/home/news/1662-soft...nges-march-2016.html
They recommend eDocman as a replacement (how cool is that
):
I have looked at the eDocman documentation but cannot seem to find any reference to using it as a Joomla! Update server?
So questions are:
Looking forward to your answers.
regards,
Ruud.

...for alternatives to Akeeba Release System. We've heard good words about EDocman...
I have looked at the eDocman documentation but cannot seem to find any reference to using it as a Joomla! Update server?
So questions are:
- Is it possible to use eDocman as Joomla! update server for components, plugins, modules, etc.?
- Does eDocman generate the necessary .xml files?
- is it possible to have paid and free downloads?
- Is it possible to have a user update a paid release with e.g. a downloadID? (How is that generated, etc.?)
- is it possible to have time frames (subscriptions) for paid releases?
Looking forward to your answers.
regards,
Ruud.

Hi Ruud
Unfortunately, EDocman is not designed as a Release System. It is just designed to manage files downloads, so it doesn't have the features you are looking for
I guess you will have to stick with Akeeba Release System and maintain it yourself. As far as I can see, seems Joomla has no replacement for that extension
Regards,
Tuan
