Joomdonation - Braintree w/ custom layout was created by Martin Boire
I have used Joomdonation in the past, but this time I have a client that has some very narrow specifications.
First and foremost, he wants to use Braintree for both single time donation and recurring ones.
Second he would like a layout (only the 2 forms on the page, not the header, footer and such, of course) like this one:
supportourtroops.org/donate/
To break it down further, he wants both the single donation form and the recurring donation form on the same page, with the amounts as radio buttons and the ability to click on either donation form and then choose to pay with braintree or Paypal.
I know that at least until a couple of years ago Joomdonation could not support something like this. What I do not remember is if it was possible to create 2 separate campaigns and then place both on the same page (either via a module or an include of sort.
An alternate solution would be to see if maybe Joomdonation could be triggered by a form component like RS forms or Breezing forms or any form component that would let us
1) Run a joomdonation script at submit
2) include a custom form in the same page that then proceeds as outline in point 1.
I know that RS forms lets someone run a custom script. What I don't know is if there is a way to trigger the script from RS forms or similar so that from the "submit" step onward Joomdonation takes over and processes the donation. That would mnstill leave braintree out of the loop, but it would solve one problem.
Another alternative, of course, would be to commission a customization of Joomdonations. My client will pay any reasonable amount for such a script, as long as it works the way he wants it.
If you guys (the developers) are open to custom jobs, I am very serious. Post back and I'll contact you directly.
FIY, the page at supportourtroops.org/donate/ is running off Wordpress with Woocommerce, then uses a Woocommerce custom plugin to process the donations, another Woocommerce custom plugin to process the Monthly donations and yet another plugin to make the originally single select drop down form into a radio button list.
I have already told the client that what he is looking for is probably not available off the shelf. I also told him that since we are taking the website back to joomla we could use the remaining WP website, strip it down and basically use only the donation page and woocommerce, turning the donation page into a stand alone self contained page, which wouldn't be a bad idea anyway because the fewer distractions the better.
In other words, I have already presented the client with any argument against this idea I could come up with, all of them pretty compelling, but he is unmoved.
One more thing: another guy might have asked for something exactly like this. He was supposed to be in charge of it, but he is sick, so I am taking over. I don't know what you might have discussed already. Assume I know nothing.
Thank you very much for any help. I'd appreciate it.
