how can members cancel subscription

how can members cancel subscriptions?
i can't find anything under an active subscription to cancel or in the documentation.

You mean cancel recurring subscription ? If so, that feature only available for the following payment gateways:

1. Paypal Pro

2. Authorize.net

3. Stripe

If subscriber sign up for a recurring subscription plan and want to cancel it, they can login, access to Membership Profile, look at My Subscriptions tab to see his subscription. In the tab, they will see a cancel button allow cancelling recurring subscriptions

If you use Paypal standard for example, the feature is not available because Paypal standard doesn't have an API allow us to cancelling the subscription. In this case, subscribers need to login to their Paypal account and cancel the recurring subscription manually
