Speech marks in name make it disappear was created by Ian Shere
The client has a color called "huetopia" (the speech marks are part of the color). If we add this as an option under Catalog | Options and save, the name field goes blank, yet, viewing the product in the frontend shows the color spelled correctly with speech marks around it.
