Recuring Payments for Membership Pro was created by Wesley Derbyshire
Hello, I need to understand the complete requirements to make Recurring Memberships work through PayPal. Specifically, is PayPal Pro required to have a recurring membership automatically billed, paid through PayPal, and then updated back to Membership Pro? I see I can create a recurring membership, but don't understand if just using PayPal standard gateway that comes with Membership Pro will automatically process these Recurring Memberships. If it does, that is great, other wise, is there anything special that needs to be done after installing Membership Pro to have it process recurring memberships?

Also, when a person decides to cancel their membership, does it automatically get processed through Membership Pro and no further charges appear on their PayPal account.

Finally, we are using Events Booking too, if we use PayPal Pro on Membership Pro, do we need to also use it for Events Booking?

Regards,
Wesley

Hi Wesley

1. With recurring payment, Paypal will process recurring payment itself, then it notify Membership Pro (server to server communication) so that Membership Pro "knows" about this payment, validate it and if it is valid, Membership Pro will create a new subscription record for the subscriber (extend his/her membership). All of these process happens automatically without require any action from you or your subscribers.

2. Right now, we have the following payment gateways support process recurring payment:

- Paypal standard

- Authorize.net

- Paypal Pro

- Stripe

The first two payment plugins come with the extension by default. the two later one are released as separate payment plugins (which you can see in Membership Pro payment plugins section on our website)

3. When subscriber cancels the subscription through his Paypal account (with Paypal Pro, Authorize.net and Stripe, he can cancel it from within your site), the payment won't happen anymore, so Membership Pro won't process any renewal and his subscription will become expired. You don't have to do anything, too,.

4. Membership Pro and Events Booking is independent. You can use Paypal Pro for Membership Pro and paypal standard for Events Booking (or use Paypal Pro for both if you want).

Hope my answers are clear to you

Regards,

Tuan
