PayPal Payments was created by Bill Worden
Why when a user signs up for a membership does it make the user to create a Paypal account, is this something with the payment plugin? Paypal says that the Buy Now function dose not require a Paypal account, can this be modified somehow? I have older people buying memberships and they are not recurring payments for renewals that do now have Paypal accounts and do not want one..

Hi Bill

This is something controlled by Paypal. Sometime, they allow people pay using credit cards, sometime, they require users to make payment using Paypal account and they don't have a clear documentation about it.

Could you please try to contact Paypal and ask them how to enable credit card payment option? I believe they will be able to check, change the settings of your Paypal account to allow credit card payment.

Maybe you should check the two posts below and try to change your settings:

www.paypal-community.com/t5/How-to-use-P...?profile.language=en

Please update us with the result

Regards,

Tuan

This feature is turned on in PayPal but still no credit card payment option without an account. Any Ideas?
Also when you cancel the PayPal payment it puts the user in Pending...

This is what the help said

Customers can check out without a PayPal account
When the "account optional" feature is turned on, customers don't need a PayPal account. They use an alternate checkout and have the option to sign up for a PayPal account afterward. Customers with PayPal accounts still log in to their PayPal accounts to check out.
This feature is available for Buy Now buttons, Donations, and shopping carts.
Please note that if both the "auto return" and "account optional" features are turned on, customers who don't log in to PayPal can choose to go back to your website after checkout, but aren’t returned automatically.
