short description setup? was created by charles
Is there a way to have Eshop pull a 150 characters from a product instead of needing to create a short description?
I am importing products from another shopping cart that didn't required me to add one, and with more than 1500 products the task of having add this info lowers the value of Eshop in some ways. Eshop should be able to pull content from the product like most shopping cart programs does. So can you tell me what I need to edit in order to do this?
Thanks

Hello Charles,
I am a bit confused about your question. Seem you want the system to get 150 characters from product full description and use this 150 character for product short description, correct?
Sincerely, Giang

Yes! Especially if one is coming from another shopping cart... I have to many products to go back and add a couple of lines of text when most Shopping Cart pulls the first 100 or 200 characters from the product!
Open Cart does this and Mijoshop that works with Joomla does it. SO I am kinder taken back that Eshop doesn't have some of the basic features that a website owners need in order to speed up the process of adding and removing product information!
What about a module or plugin that allows you to edit multi products instead of having to open one product at a time. There are mutli plugins the I use when I am working with open cart and a few other programs. Or a plugin that allows you to add an set of Options to multi products at one time? Why not add a Category Option in which a set of options could be applied to every product that you attach to a Category, so when website owner adds a new product to a Category that already have an Set of options attached to it, the options is automatically assigned to the new product when the save button is clicked!
I know Eshop is still the new kid on the block, but you need to add a bit more features to this component. And not being able to add products by way of the database is crazy! CSV Advanced has away of messing up a database, if you edit the database directly before using Eshop CSV Advanced your products will not show on the frontend! And can you please take the time to outline the order in which you need to import things!!!! importing Categories first creates a mess when you import products. The category and Manufacture names has to be spot on or the CSV create a new manufacturer and Category which throws your products off ... Other components let you edit directly from the database, So why not build the import directly into Eshop?
It took me more than a week just to import Mijoshop content into Eshop which is crazy.. Normally it takes me less than a couple of minutes. And the info on how to import with Eshop CSV Adavnced does not help. It seem you are using Virtemart approach of doing things.
