EDocman and PDF Indexer

Does EDocman come with PDF Indexer? I have several hundred PDF files to put online with EDocman but I would like to have a full search facility such as provided by PFD Indexer. But I don't want to have to buy both if it is not required. So my question is in order to have a complete file management such as provided by EDocman would I have to also buy PDF Indexer to get the files indexed.

EDocman extension has an indexer plugin comes with it by default. If you install and publish this plugin, each time you upload a document in EDocman, the content of the PDF document will be indexed and can be searchable.

So you just need to purchase EDocman, no need for purchasing the PDF indexer.

Oh no- I just found this looking for information about if the PDF Indexer will automatically index new edocman files.

I've already purchased the PDF indexer component- can you please explain the difference between the edocman plugin and the PDF Indexer component. Do I need to install the edocman plugin to automatically index future uploads to be searchable? Thanks!

Hi Alex

1. The PDF Indexer component allows indexing multiple documents at the same time (infact, all documents you are having) within one index (few clicks)

2. The EDocman indexer plugin allows index one document at a time. The document only indexed when you upload/create it

So :

1. If you haven't created any documents in EDocman before, you can use the build-in EDocman indexder plugin

2. If you have created many docuemnts before, you should use OS PDF Indexer. Otherwise, if you want to use EDocman indexer plugin, you will need to re-upload files for each documents so that these documents can be indexed
