I have some categories in eDocman that are open to public and others are restricted. After enabling eDocman search plugin I noticed it is not just showing up protected documents but also allowing your to download the document without asking for authentication.
Does this mean, Documents listed in the search results do not inherit parent category permissions?
It is not correct. Documents in search results still use permission settings which you setup. Could you please submit a support ticket sending us super admin account of your site and describe how we can see the error so that we can check and solve the issue for you.
I have figured out the issue, it was a parent category's parent that had download permissions for Public. Parent category however did not have 'download' permissions for Public.
One issue however remains is the document showing up in search. It doesn't allow you to download but it does appear in search results.
Is it possible that what is not downloadable is not shown at all?
Unfortunately, it is not possible. The not downloadable still being showed, users can click on it to view details information, they just could not download it
