Moving from virtuemart to eshop was created by Dennis Skaltsis
Hi,
After suffering for a long time with virtuemart, we are considering mooing to eshop.
There are some questions we need to clarify before taking this decision:

1. Can eshop co-exist with virtuemart at the same joomla site? even for a short period(during the transition) we might need this.
2. Is there an automatic or even semi-automatic method to move our 2000 products and 100 categories, from vm to eshop?

our installation:
Joomla! 2.5.27
virtuemart: 2.0.6 multilingual eshop: EN, EL
Database Version 5.1.68-community
Database Collation utf8_general_ci
PHP Version 5.4.9
Web Server Microsoft-IIS/8.0
WebServer to PHP Interface cgi-fcgi

Thank you in advance for your support.

.-Dennis

Hello Dennis,
Thank you for interesting in our EShop Shopping Cart extension. Regarding your questions:

1. EShop and Virtuemart are 2 independent extensions so of course, they can co-exist on a same Joomla site without any conflict.
2. There is no automatic method to migrate data from VM into EShop. However, we have EShop CSV Advanced extenion to do that. You just need to export data from VM into CSV file, then use EShop CSV Advanced to import data from CSV file into EShop. Our support staff can help you to do this if you want.

Hope that my answers are clear.
Sincerely, Giang

Hi Giang
Thank you for your rely.
One clarification though, your support offer is regarding export and import from VM to EShop, or only for the import part?

Thank you, Dennis

Hi again Dennis,
Our extension only support the import part. However, our support staff can help you to export data properly, then import it into the EShop.
Sincerely, Giang

Hi,
This post has been so long, I just want to add my suggestion if someone are still wondering about an automatic method to move your store's data to a new platform like VirtueMart or eShop.

There is actually a migration tool which was designed to steer clear all the coding confusion and automatically transfer all kinds of data such as:
- Products :SKUs, ID, variants, categories
- Orders : ID, status,
- Customer: name, account, passwords,
- Coupon,
- Custom codes
- Images
- Reviews
...

I tried this method lately and It saved me lot of time and money. You can try the free demo as much as you want, it is unlimited. But bear in mind that you can only try with 20 data each time.

It may be little confusing when you download a connector at your root store, you can ask for help from the support team. If you don't want to risk losing any data, I suggest migrating from your database and your store would still be receiving orders and everything.

Here is the link to their website: bit.ly/37CUfiR

I hope this helps somewhat!

Hello Ashley Bren,

I think this tool does not work with EShop extension.

Sincerely, Giang
