Default Shipping Method

EShop allows me to create several alternative shipping methods and presents the purchaser with the ability to choose (and pay for) the shipping method. The possible shipping methods are presented in the Estimate Shipping & Taxes section of the Shopping Cart and at Step 4 of Checkout. This is great.

At Step 4 of Checkout, one of the shipping method radio boxes is automatically selected. The purchaser can change this selection. The method that is automatically selected is not always the least expensive option. How does eShop choose which radio box is automatically selected? Alphabetically? Order? Price? ID? Can we specify a default method or the pecking order for this choice?

This is impossible to implement because with different user information inputs, the system will show the different available shipping methods. We can not specify a default shipping method to make as chosen as default.

Okay, it is not a big deal. Is there logic or other reasoning that determines which shipping method eShop displays with the radio box filled in?

The displayed shipping methods must meet 2 conditions:

1. They are enabled shipping methods from the EShop (Plugins->Shippings)
2. The customer information/order information must meet the conditions of these enabled shipping methods.

Okay. I understand that eShop only displays shipping methods if they meet these conditions. However, eShop seems to automatically select one of the methods at Step 4 of Checkout (but not in the Shopping Cart) because of of the shipping methods is already selected (the radio box is darkened) when Step 4: Shipping Method opens up. Why/how is one of the displayed shipping methods already selected?

In my case, I would like US Postal Service to be the default selection instead of UPS.
