Importing Members

I asked a similar question in a support ticket, but I need a little more detail. We receive a list of the new members for each plan for import every year. Some are they same, however some are new. Can I delete all members from the Membership Pro dashboard and import a fresh list every year and have the members who were already in the system reconnect with their old User Accounts (provided their emails are still the same)? And at the same time will it add new members (that didn't exist before) and create User Accounts for them?

The problem is that the system use username to determine whether it creates a new user or not, not uses email. So in this case, it will work if you have username of the user in csv file. Otherwise, it won't work

We use email as the user name. [In other words] we import the email into both the email field and into the username field. Will this work?
