how to get SSL working was created by mackdaddy
Hi There

Currently got PMF installed. running Joomla 1.5.

Even though i have turned on the "use HTTPS" in the config, when the form is loaded (It is part of an article) it doesn't use the https just the standard http.

Can anyone help with this.

Hi

Please send me administrator account of your site (to contact@joomdonation.com) . I will check to see what is wrong with the setting. It should not take me more than 30 minutes .

Thanks,

Tuan

If you could respond on the Forum with what you had to do to fix the SSL issue that would be helpful. I'm sure various issues could cause errors but whatever you happen to come across would be helpful for others to read on the Forum. I'm sure it would help ease the trouble of having to respond to each customer :)

Having said that, I'll be returning to ask on the Forum as to why SSL is not working for me too after I resolve some other issues.

First, there are likely many reasons why the SSL doesn't work, but in my case it ended up being relatively simple. In my site I use another component which also makes use of the SSL cert, and has a plugin which prevented Joom Donate from going into SSL. With Tuan's help I tested this by turning off the plugin, and discovering that Joom Donate went into SSL mode. But, a quick way to actually discover if there is a plugin that may be effecting Joom Donate, just type in a legit URL at your site, but use https:// instead of http://... if it redirects to the non-secure page, you know something is up!

So, in closing, I was fortunate that the developer of the SSL plugin provided an exception field for other components, and I included com-jdonation in this exception list, and bang it works great!
