short description characters

Hello guys, Wonder if you direct me where can I change the number of characters allowed in the description field. The new display is perfect of a new template but I need to use an older theme to show map. And then I have cut off some short description in layout. Can anyone point me into right direction please! See images below. First is cutting some characters so wonder what file I can use to find number of character specified.
